Aardie
Died Dec 1995
It still hurts to think about Aardie. We called him that because he was a Jack Russell terrier and looked like an aardvaark. He was one of the sweetest dog I've ever known. Very fiesty and very protective, but a sweetheart. One day he escaped, and because he had seizures, I was pretty certain he wasn't coming home. My mother found him by the side of the road three days after he disappeared. The thing that still hurts is that there must have been many, many people who saw him, but didn't care enough to pick Aardie up. He'd been hit by a car and had a broken leg, so you'd think that someone would have cared enough... But no. When we posted some signs, we got a call from a man who'd seen him. I felt like screaming "Why didn't you pick him up?" But I love to remember how he was before he died, how he loved to play soccer and peed all over everything and never got carsick because he leaned, while his son Grubb puked all over everything. I'll remember being woken up at 4:30 in the morning by a sweet Jack Russell terrier licking your face. And how he always tried to eat people food or sneak treats or go on walks or go to races with me.

I trusted him too much but he was only a stupid dog, didn`t understand it.May his wishes will come true in his heaven of animals, where I cannot follow.
